FAQ

Before your first class.

Anything else, call or email us. Someone is usually at the wheel and can pick up.

01

01

What should I wear?

Clothes you don’t mind getting clay on, and short sleeves or sleeves you can push up. Tie back long hair and leave rings at home. We lend aprons, and clay washes out of most things.

02

02

When can I collect my pots?

About three weeks after your class. Pots dry for a week, go through a bisque firing, get glazed, then go through a glaze firing. We email you when they’re on the collection shelf, and keep them for two months.

03

03

When do the kilns fire?

Bisque firings on Mondays and glaze firings on Thursdays, so the studio is closed on Mondays. Open studio members get two shelves’ worth of firing a month.

04

04

Is there parking?

Yes, eight free spaces in Tanner’s Yard and more on Mill Lane after 6pm. The 21 bus stops at the end of the lane, and Brindle Cross station is a ten-minute walk.

05

05

Do I need any experience?

Not for tasters, the six-week course, hand-building or mug-making. The improvers’ course, glazing workshop and open studio are for people who’ve done a course.

06

06

Is the studio accessible?

Everything is on the ground floor with level access and an accessible toilet. We have one wheel set up for seated use with a pedal on either side. Let us know when you book.

07

07

How old do you have to be?

16 and over for adult classes, or 12 and over with a parent taking part too. Kids’ clay club is for ages 8 to 12.

08

08

Can I book a private group?

Yes, for 5 to 12 people, on Friday evenings or Sunday afternoons. Birthdays, hen parties and team days all work. From £45 a head for a two-hour session.
